Juniors/Seniors

Juniors Baseball (13-14) is the first level where players play on 90 foot base paths and 60 foot pitching mound. This is generally the first experience for most players of playing baseball like the big leagues. Seniors Baseball (14-16) is the last and highest level in the Little League system. Watching a Seniors game is very much like watching a Major League Baseball game.

Teams

Mandatory try-outs at this level ensure teams have an even amount of talent and pitchers. Players are drafted by coaches and placed on a team. Players playing on JV and Varsity High School teams are encouraged to attend the try-out; however, they will be drafted to teams based on coaches’ evaluations from the High School Season.

Season

Weather permitting, Teams practice begins the week after Spring Break with games starting in late April running through early June. Coaches may hold up to 5 practices per week. Senior League Games will start as soon as the High School Season is over.

Location

Generally, home games are played at Memorial Field in Sandpoint, however for 2011 season, home games will be played at the Pine St Field complex just east of SWAC on Pine ST. Interleague play is a big part of the Juniors and Seniors Division and teams are traveling to other communities for games on a regular basis. Teams are scheduled to have equally as many home and away games as possible, however this depends on many teams in each community as well as field availability.

Games

There is no time limit on games at this level. Games are played in the afternoon with the times varying. Games are scheduled Monday through Saturday. There may be Double Header games scheduled.

Equipment

Jersey (T shirt) and baseball cap are provided to players by the league. SLL also provides coaches with helmets, bats and catching equipment. Cleats and baseball pants are required. Players need to have a baseball mitt.

All-Stars

A 13/14 Juniors All-Star team is fielded from players at this level. The All-Star team is formed in mid-June and travels to several tournaments in North Idaho including the Juniors Little League regional tournament in July. A Seniors Division traveling team may be formed of select players to travel to area tournaments and games after the general season. This may included additional fees and costs for each player. As soon as more information is available we will update.
