Welcome to Sandpoint Little League

Majors

The Majors Baseball level is a top level in Little League and is available for league ages 11-12. This is a very competitive level of play and competes with other local area communities during the season. Instruction and coaching are given to each player and playing skills are enhanced. Playing time and players positions are based on player abilities and what best suits the entire team. Score keeping and standings are kept at this level with regular season awards presented at the championship game. Players pitch at this level with pitch counts strictly adhered to. One home plate umpire is used at this level.

Teams

Mandatory Skills Assessment at this level ensure teams have an even amount of talent and pitchers. Players are drafted by coaches and placed on a team. Parent requests for specific coaches or to be on specific teams will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed in order to ensure team equality and competitiveness.

Season

Majors practice begins the week after Spring Break with games starting by the end of April (weather permitting), running through early June. Coaches may hold up to 3 practices per week.

Location

Some practices may be at area schools, but most practices and games are played at Travers Park Field #3. Interleague play is a big part of the Majors Division and teams are traveling to other communities for games on a regular basis. Teams are scheduled to have equally as many home and away games as possible; however, this depends on many teams in each community as well as field availability.

Games

There is no time limit on games at this level and each game is scheduled for 6 innings. However, due to field availability, early season games may be subject to a time limit based on daylight hours. Games are played in the afternoon with the times varying. Games are scheduled Monday through Saturday beginning in mid-April.

Equipment

Jersey (T-shirt) and baseball cap are provided to players by the league. SLL also provides coaches with helmets, bats, and catching equipment. Cleats and baseball pants are required. Players need to have a baseball mitt.

All-Stars

An 11-12-year-old All-Star team is fielded from players at this level. The All-Star team is formed in early June and travels to several tournaments in North Idaho. This may include additional fees and costs for each player. Details are given towards the end of the season as more information is available. Read more about the All Star Selection Process.
